Hi my cream legbar seems to be limping worse, been checking her feet and they are fine. I have noticed that she don't seem to have much resistance in her leg joint. When I push her good leg up I can feel the resistance, but her bad leg seems to have no resistance. She pulls it up and stands on one leg so there is movement in it. And she drags it sometimes when she's hoping around. What do I do? Can it be the joint, do I take her to the vet or will they just fob me off and rip me off!

Has she been confined to rest the leg since you first posted? I think it could be possible that she has Mareks disease. Do yher toes in the bad leg curl? There is no emergency here, but watch her, give her poultry vitamins (Avian Super Pak online is a good brand,) and make sure that she is confined to a small area where she can reach food, water, and not be bullied or hurt. Here are a couple of my favorite links about Mareks:

If you haven't already, I would confine her to a well-bedded place. Don't give her a roost, and place feed/water in easy reach. If it is some sort of injury, exercise will only worsen the condition. I'd give vitamins to her, too, as vitamin deficiencies can cause problems like this, as well. But I agree with Eggcessive that Marek's is a likely possibility.

Eggcessive. What do you mean do her toes curl? They curl round my finger when she grabs on but so does the other foot. I've not really got anywhere else to put her. She still hops around and eats and drinks. None of the other chickens seem to be affected. I'll take a picture of her tomorrow to show the foot better. What can I do if it is Marek's?

Hi I can't get avian super pack in the UK. What should I look for in the vitamins
Curled toes are when the toes are curled under like a clenched fist, and they will walk on tops of the toes. I am certain your local feed outlet probably has an alternative for poultry vitamins. If not, a vitamin tablet with all B vitamins would work temporarily, dissolved in the water. The following picture came from a BYC post.

Hi no she is not crunching her toes up she puts it down properly like she's going to walk on it but can't put any weight on it.

Hi I just want to thank everyone for the info and replies, been to the local farm vet today and he said she's got a dislocated leg so she needs lots of rest for about 6weeks. He said she'll be fine in about 6 to 8 weeks. We're really glad it was nothing that meant we was going to lose her. Thank you.
