Help needed on how to mount roof? First coop build.

Is the roof going to have corrugated metal? What is the top of the roof material? You coukd use the wood as an insulation and install a few sheets of corrugated making the overhang.
yes! the plan is to have corrugated metal (I think a neighbour has scrap for me) or plastic if I can't find metal. the wood sheathing is just to help insulate

I tried to draw a roof structure on my phone. What is lacking is your triangular structures, if you have more wood available, you can try to level the columns, but if you dont want to raise the columns to be level, you can try to build the base triangles using the columns as is.

Your roof piece is a good insulation but i suggest using corrugated with a rainwater channels after you get it installed.

actually this will work. the top post is cut off in the photo but they are level in the sense of the correct angle for the roof to sit on top. and yes corrugated with rain channels was the plan!

@Banana01 is this correct - the yellow being 2x4s lengthwise (two of them) and the red being 2x4s width wise between the posts?

Then you can run 2x4 between the columns that are level, and mount the roof on those, but somehow you will need to cut angles so it fits flat on the lower columns. That is what i would do but i am an amateur that just happens to have several structures that were built scrappily. Mine were built with level columns, and the roof pitch came from building the triangles. Your roof pitch is built into the columns so it is still a cool build!

Ita hard to say because normally I would mount the wood sheets to laterals, but you just need to attach what you already built, so I think you just need to run 2x4s between the colimns that are the same level, and mount your roof on those. You dont need the yellows i think because your roof is already built, the yellows would be where you mount the insulating boards. Not sure from the roof photo.

In my photo avove, the purple is your roof structure.

Your roof pitch isn't steep/long enough to require angle cuts(bird mouth cuts). Place you roof structure on top of 2x4( red lines banana drew) and fasten with screws. Install metal roofing over top leaving a overhang on the side and ends.

Do not use plastic. In our climate (howdy neighbour!) it won't stand up to the changing temps. If you can't use metal roofing, use shingles instead. I got a whole batch of shingles for next to nothing from the ReStore.
