I have a 3 year old Toulouse/Brecon Buff goose who was a little off colour around 3 weeks ago. She then laid an egg 3 days later and for the past week and a half has been been really withdrawn. We thought she could be egg bound as there were no further eggs after the first so I called the vet who gave her a calcium injection and an antibiotic as she was very red around her vent from straining. He couldn't feel any egg though and we've had no eggs since (he thought that as she was mainly eating grass that she could be calcium-deficient). She is very unsteady on her feet and remains either on the pond or in/around the coop away from the others and isn't interested in feeding except when we feed her layer pellets; which she will take, and she is drinking fine. The main issue is that she doesn't seem to be improving; she's still unsteady on her feet and is regularly knocked over by the other geese if they become excited around feeding time and she looks rather depressed. I started them on Flubenvet (wormer) yesterday as although the vet didn't think it was that (and none of my other geese are showing any signs), I would have wormed them around now anyway and I'm trying to cover all bases. Does anyone have any ideas? It's really sad seeing her like this and not really knowing what to do. Thanks.

@Wooski

So very sorry no one responded to your post and so sorry your goose died. In situations like this sometimes a Vet school or vet will do an autopsy then you know for sure what killed her, I am wondering since she was not laying normal if she may have had peritonitis here is some info http://beautyofbirds.com/eggyolkperitonitis.html

again very sorry for your loss.
