Hi guys new to keeping chickens and yet to start I'm currently looking to start a back yard coop in a nursing home as I live in Cornwall uk and the majority of those I care for where farmers etc...

Any ways I have no idea where to begin so have been looking at coops and breeds. 12 week old light Sussex marsh Daisy's I'd what I have been offered so far and if that doesn't work out the same breeder said bantams??i have been around bantams before as my folks lived on a farm and they weren't very friendly, what is there temperament??

Also for those of you considered experts could a 2 tier rabbit hutch be deemed suitable for 3-4 chickens or bantams (my plan would be to drop a run in front and leave the one of the doors open??

Anyway just a start an opening gambit Any constructive advice appreciated on what I've mentioned above.hope to hear back soon

Hello and welcome to BYC

I'm afraid I don't know nearly enough about breeds to recommend anything for you, but I'm sure some of the more experienced members will. In the meantime, have a look in the Coop section for ideas on coops and runs for small spaces. Enjoy the site!

. You'll get better breeds evaluations in Breeds, Genetics, and showing. Also the Coop and Run section can better evaluate your situation

The more room they have the happier they will be. I you don't have much room I would defenatly get bantams. My Old english game bantams are very friendly. It will depend on how they are raised. More attention = more friendly but some breeds are friendlyer than others.
