Let me start by saying I have never had chickens, I know nothing about chickens and in truth they scare me just a little! My partner had chickens growing up and thus thinks he is a leading authority. He has randomly bought this chicken coop so that we can get some chickens and claims it is ok for four chickens, but it looks tiny to me! I have gently tried to explain that the way he did things as a kid may not be best practice but he's pretty much the buy now and don't bother thinking about it later type and if we are going to have live animals I want to ensure they are properly cared for. I realise there is a wealth of information here but I have three children and not a lot of time to read, so I'm hoping someone can quickly set this straight for me.

TIA

Tell him that hundreds of people on the internet have given that coop a bad review and your money is better spent on purchasing a better quality coop or building your own.

That coop WILL warp and rot. It will leak. It is undersized and poorly ventilated. It is difficult to access for adequate cleaning. The fasteners and hardware are grossly inadequate. The materials and construction is so poor that your average neighborhood dog can easily bust in and kill all your chickens.

Your partner's enthusiasm is understandable but you are the voice of reason. If you use this coop, not only will your birds health and safety be compromised, but chicken keeping will likely be a terribly disappointing and dissatisfying experience for your family.
