Hi there! Im new to the world of owning chickens. We were recently given 3 chickens from someone who had them as chicks but were in danger because they had a mean rooster that wanted them for dinner. We had a coop made during the summer because we had been talking about getting chickens for a long time, but wanted to do our research before hand. Well then we had the chickens fall in our laps, literally! Nonetheless we love them and are happy to have them. They are what I'm assuming is "teenager stage" they are growing in their feathers and are beautiful, but I'm having a hard time finding what type of breed they are. If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. 2 look the same but 1 looks totally different. 20171105_094421.jpg

There is a section here called: what breed or sex is my chicken. You might get more responses there if you haven’t already posted.

Congrats on your new flock!

Thankyou i've been looking through that thread. some pictures look like Ameraucana. I have to do more research! =)

:welcome hard to say do you know what color the eggs they hatch fro were ? Thy almost look like Easter eggers . They will either have a pea or a rose comb looks like .The people you got them from didn't tell you?
Thank you for responding, no we got no info on them when they were given to us. They're going from 2 thumbs down accommodations to 5 star! I'm making them very comfy in their new home! =) Oh and no eggs yet, im assuming theyre still under stress from the previous owners and it will take time for them.

I am not an expert but to my eye they look pretty young. I wouldn't expect eggs from them for quite a while. Someone else might see things in a different way??? cuties for sure! congrats on your new addiction <G>.

You are months away from eggs if those pics are recent.
Chickens start to lay anywhere between 20 weeks and a year.

Yours look more like maybe 10 weeks old.

With winter coming fast it is likely to be next year before you see eggs.
