Just had a chick hatch with a red, swollen belly that appears very distended. Also leaking a white discharge from the navel. What is this? What do I do? Incubated with 24 others, who are all normal looking...

Looks like an infection. Just before hatching the chick absorbs the yoak through the navel. The white discharge is pus. I read in a post somewhere about this problem but I've never faced it. The person with the post tried opening up the navel and letting the pus and egg yoak out. It worked for them, but they were told just to put the chick down.
