We adopted roosters that were at the humane society and we've lost a few to predators since we let them free range. Today we were out and came home st dusk to find one upside down in the snow. We brought him inside, turned up the heat and put him in front of the vent. We was very lethargic and we are trying to get some water on his beak. Any suggestions? I'm terrified of birds, but my daughter loves them.

Any suggestions, my daughter is in tears, we found her favorite little guy dead today and now this one....

Living in Aus I do not personally have experience with colder temps and recovering chickens that have been affected but suggest you try posting on the Emergencies & Diseases Forum, the folks there are very experienced and helpful.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends

Sorry for your loss and I hope the ER members can help you out. Do you have a coop for the birds to go into to get out of the weather?

Welcome to BYC - I hope the ER peeps managed to help.

Best wishes

I think we're getting there slowly, thank you all for your advice, it's greatly appreciated.
