Hello all! I am new to BYC and also... to chickens! My husband is building the coop and we have these little (hopefully) girls in the house right now. But any idea what breed they could be? They were given to us by a friend who got them from TSC. And I am praying they are all girls... Some of the combs seem a bit bigger than others.. I am panicking slightly. I have learned everything that I know from a co-worker who raises chickens and from BYC!

I'm new to this too but i also got chicks at tsc and they are identicle to them. They are called gold stars

Yes,my guess would be red sex links, which are sold under a variety of names including red stars and gold stars. If they are this breed, they are all females. Sex links look different between male and female. :)

Could be wrong here. But I've seen TSC have red sex links that are gold and red in the same tub (all marked pullets?) Thinking the lighter gold color is Roos. But like I said could be wrong as there are several different kinds of red sex links and I've never had them.

Thanks all. They've all gotten a bit darker. We also have 2 guinea hens added to the mix now... I am slightly unsure of those two.
