Hi all. I have a chick just hitting two days old now. She was very active day one, no signs of any issues to start, in the last couple hours shes gone from showing signs of lethargy to flat out not opening her eyes and tipping over. It seems shes very likely to not make it. Every few minutes she has labored breathing. Her poop looks off from the rest of the chicks. It came out fully watery yellow (like human pee) with little chunks of what looks like un processed food. Infection? Worms?
I haven’t seen her take water the last bit, so at very least I’m trying to treat dehydration, gave her some sugar water.
Any help would be appreciated!!

So sorry for your loss :hugs I’m in the UK so I have only just seen this. It sounds like you done all you could, as sad as it is, sometimes some chicks are just not strong enough to make it. Could she have eaten something? have you checked the dates on the food bag? I would double check everything is as it should be.

Thank you🖤 there no way she could have eaten anything as I have her in a controlled environment, I just checked the food and it’s good. My chicken brooder/heater doesn’t feel as warm as it should so I’m thinking that could be a contributor or the culprit:( I switched it out with my back up just in case, I’m not sure that explains the poop though☹️.

I’m sorry! I just had one of my baby chicks die today too. She was almost a week old and just struggled the whole time. It’s such a heart breaker when they make it out of the egg and then pass. :hugs
Thank you!🖤 I’m so sorry for your loss too. I hate to lose the little ones.☹️

It is good you spotted the brooder issue, but as @kurby22 said, sometimes this happens with no explanation ☹️ Maybe her digestive system wasn’t developed enough 🤷‍♀️ It is sad when we lose baby chicks, especially when they have made it that far, condolences to you both :hugs
