Hard to get a good picture but we just had our first chick hatch and there's a string coming from its butt and attached to the shell.

Usually nothing to worry about, it will likely come off on its own. Photo would help to be certain.

If it doesn't come of by itself and dries up you you can cut it off about a quarter inch from the body

I agree with everyone above, usually nothing to worry about. I wouldn't recommend putting her with bedding. The other chicks (if any) might want to peck at it, so be careful.

It'd also be preferable (if you have other chicks) to not seperate her. Chickens are very social animals. Though, I doubt it will get dire enough for that. Good luck!
