Help, not sure any of these eggs are going to hatch.

From experience I've learned put the eggs in on day 18 make sure humidity is good and do NOT open again till chicks have hatch. I lost 13 out of 21 pipped eggs and it's very upsetting after all the anxiousness of waiting and enjoying lil pips running around. Good Luck

My worry is still no internal pips, and today is day 21. I'm hoping that the low temps we experienced in the beginning has just delayed them some. it's very nerve wracking. I have two more cream legbar eggs that I'm convinced are quitters, they're sort of sloshy, and much clearer than the other eggs. I'm debating whether to take them out now or let them stay in.

I'm on day 22 and just as worried, I had no pipping on day 21 yesterday. I get to go check in 45 minutes. I hope everything works out OK with your eggs!

I am trying to get chicks the old fashioned way - Mama's doing it. But here's the problem - some of these eggs are over 30 days old. One broke, stunnk up the rest and I washed off the rest with water. The hen accepted them back. I candled one and saw liquid rolling around inside- I discarded it. Some of the eggs are only 12 or 14 days old. Should I wait to see what happens or discard everything at this point? I feel bad killing something that's growing - if they are growing. Another question, I have a 5 year old rooster that produced babies before. Is he too old to have babies now? Thanks!

What day did you set them?

Some people get confused with what day it really is. So I always ask, what day did you set them? If Friday, they will (or should) hatch on the Friday.. Friday would be day 21 not day 22.

I set on a sunday night, late, so I was counting yesterday as 21, which actually makes today 22. I get confused about days easily I guess... continuing to check frequently. I'm misting the incubator when I open it to keep the humidity from droping so sharply. Not the eggs, just sort of in the air above them. I have to go out this afternoon which is maybe a good thing, it might keep me from hovering so much.

When you candle them what does it look like? Do you see movement? Are eggs full? How large are the air cells?

Air cells are what seems to be on track according to the charts, maybe a little on the big side, but not hugely. I've been candling every night since day 18, and I can't se ANYTHING in most of the eggs except that they are dark. All I can see is aircell and darkness in most of them. I have two that I'm pretty positive are duds because I can see through them partially and they seem sloshy when I tip them to get a different angle. None of the others seems sloshy. Our power was out for 12 hours. Thankfully, it was during a hot spell, and I imediately shut the house up to keep it as warm as possible for the incubator and the meat chicks/turkey poults. It stayed above 80 in the incubator.

I really appreciate the input of people with loads of experience (thanks Aoxa in particular). I've read everything I can get my hands on, but there's really no substitute for hands on experience. You experienced folks don't have to spend your free time helping hapless newbies like myself. I'm so gratful that you do.

No problem at all :)

Here's another suggestion. Try the float test. They are not internally pipped, so if alive they should wiggle in the water.

They may have died from the low temps. I have never had more than a 8 hour period at 94 degrees. If it was 80 they may very well have died - I hope not, but is a very likely possibility.

I once lost almost an entire hatch for reasons I still can't figure out. 42 eggs. 2 hatched. All 40 others fully developed but very much dead.
