Hello,
Yesterday we had a Fox attack which took three of our chickens. The problem is that one of those three was the mother to the baby chick we have. Luckily I managed to find the chick but I don't know how to care for it. Right now I've put it in a shoebox, punched holes in the top, filled it with hay and put a heated rice filled sock in the corner in case it feels cold and put some breadcrumbs and water in the corner. I can't afford an incubator or anything...:/ I'd say the chick is roughly two or three weeks old. When do you think it's safe to introduce it to the flock and it can fend for itself?

Could you give it some starter food? - more nutritious than bread for sure - if its eating and drinking it should be ok - just keep an eye on it.

To answer your question about introducing it to the flock, I'd suggest you search for threads as there are lots and they should give you enough info for you to make the correct decision.

Good luck

Where are you located, what is the air temp there?
Were chick and mama in with the flock?
