HELP!!! Oddest thing ever!

That's the part that makes me not be able to comprehend it as any type of joke...they could have died in the box, no less their care if they didn't die...I mean, how many non animal people would be set up to care for immediate needs of live animals...the list goes on and on. Just wow.

WOW, that is strange! Got any farms close by that had to get rid of the chicks? That's the only thing I can think of. Farm (or previous chicks' owners) can't sell chicks, needs them gone, sets up a phony contest, delivers chicks and is done with it. That is so sad for those little things, I am so glad you are there to help your friend with them. That is just so wierd though.

well, ive always said God does things for a reason. hopefully they can keep the chickies or rehome them.....but if they win that goat, i take first dibs if they dont want it

I really hope it WASN'T a practical joke. I hate people who use animals for jokes. It is not funny, and animals should NEVER be used in such terrible ways. I also believe it's rude to give someone an animal as a gift unless you know they want it and are expecting it.

Some of my chicken owning friends say that occasionally they will find additions to their flock that they never expected. Apparently, once people know you own chickens, they start dumping poultry on your doorstep (good reason to keep your runs secure!) I would be afraid of spreading disease that way, if the newcomers weren't quarantined.

26 chicks have survived another night in our basement. Thanks to a great friend who saved the day last night with her daughter. Chicks now have a better set up and better food. I'm still in shock about it all. My 3 year old son is in love with them for now. I really would be okay keeping a few but 26?!?!?! I would really love to find out who just left a box of living creatures at someone's door. We've had some crazy weather in MA and I'm just glad we were home that evening to take them in. Now back to reading up on raising chicks!
