hello.
first time hatcher here. I am doing i guess a check list, on my incubator a brinsea octagon 20 eco and turner.
i am going to give a hatch a try in the middle of january. I am just doing some dry test runs, to practice with my machine etc. (no eggs in it yet). my question is with the auto turner. its plugged it and i guess sort of attched to the bator, but not straight on one side. question is, will the auto turner move on its own? have its own built in timer? there was no instruction maunal for the autoturner. it just isnt flush on both sides (hope that makes sense). thanks in advance!

btw : the incubator is not plugged in.

I have a little giant bator and auto turner. The way mine works is that i plug them both in and they both work on their own. The turner just basically sits inside of the bator. It turns super slow like i think four hours to go down>>>>>>>>>> and back<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<. Good luck and hope i helped.

The Autoturner for the Octagon series is outside of the incubator, the incubator sits in it. I actually waited until the turner was straight up before I put the incubator on it, because it was hard to slide the slots down over the pegs things when it was at an angle. There is no timer for the turner, you unplug it for lockdown. Again, I waited until it was straight up and just unplugged it, so the incubator still sat in the cradle upright. (The first time I struggled with it at angles and would take the 'bator out of the cradle... but I found it was easier for me to just do it the way I've described.)

Most auto turners will gently rock the eggs at about a full rotation (from one angle and back again) in about 4 hours. Just leave it plugged in at all times....
