I actually spent the $ to take her to the vet. The vet recommended scrubbing the wound twice a day with Chlorhexidine Solution on a gauze pad. To put nothing on the wound, not even neosporin. I scrubbed the wound when it was open twice a day, once it had a hard scab I stopped cleaning it. She picked the scab off a week ago, I scrubbed the opening again for a few days till it made another hard scab. We are on the third scabbing of the wound and like I said it has shrunk from about the size of my palm to the size of a dime. At this rate of healing I would guess she'll be able to return to her friends next week.
Her wound was originally so bad it caused her to fall to the side when walking. It was open to the muscle underneath and had a huge chunk of skin missing.
ETA: I found the "picker" and she was relocated to my sisters coop where there were hens larger than her and a mean rooster.
