In the Brooder
Around 5am today, I was checking on my chicks (around a month old) when I saw one of them had one eye closed. She’s eating and drinking fine but randomly will rub that side of her face on her wings and chirp very loudly so I’m assuming it’s hurting her. She can open the eye fully but it quickly becomes uncomfortable and she closes it again. As time goes on, I can tell it’s really bothering her. It looks pretty much like her other eye. I can’t really see anything wrong with it. The only picture of the eye open that I’ve managed to get is her about to close it so it’s squinty. Any advice on how I can help? I don’t know if she got stuff in it or maybe it got scratched
Closed eye:
Closed eye partially opened:
unaffected eye:
Could this at all be related to her crop? I’m noticing that she keep opening her mouth wide and smacking her beak a lot. She is also trying to scratch at the closed eye (she can still open it) while chirping loudly
