Help, one of my chickens have feathers!

You mean those faux chickens you have are growing feathers?

It is not feathers. It is evil sprouting from their bodies.

Some questions:

Are the feathers purple? Have you ever thought of dying them that color?

Did you think your chicken was a silkie?

Did you recently get new corrective lenses?

Isolate the chicken. You don't want the feathers to spread to the rest of the flock.

Could be serious.

Feathers are coming out of their mouths. It's worse than you can imagine. Thanks for the warning.

No redhen is 100% correct.
It has to be culled immediently, but do not touch it, this disease spreads fast.
Just break out the .12 and BOOM baby.

Oh no! I already touched it. I picked it up and even smelled it.
What will happen to me? Should I go to the ER or call the CDC?

I can't put it down. She is too friendly. This is so hard.

Thank you for all your responses. Everyone has been a big help.

The feathers are not purple and it's not a silkie. It's actually a Blue Orp
from Speckled Hen crossed with a Red Orp from Miss Prissy. It's 6 weeks
old and had fur and hair. Then today it started growing feathers.

I've isolated it to the attic and contacted a local vet. The vet was very
confused but told me to bring the bird in tomorrow for an exam and
to bring my checkbook.
