Help!? or not? Day 23 on hatching egg

Thanks! Now the "what sex is the bird?" game begins. LOL!! I only have one that I'm fairly certain is a pullet based on leg genetics. Apparently the dominant white gene in Leghorn crosses also inhibits the dark legs so I cannot tell on any of the leghorn crosses based on leg color. But, I'm fairly certain birds with such large straight combs are easy to tell by 8 weeks.

Thanks again for keeping up!

Usually if mom kicks it out there is something wrong. Always trust a broodies instincts when it comes to the eggs. They know better than we do and they've been doing this for centuries. I toss whatever she kicks out.

Figuring out the gender is like incubating...patience is needed! They grow up so fast that you do not have to wait too long.

leg color is one of the worst ways to figure gender--It is not always sex linked. Leghorns are easy to tell by 6 weeks usually by comb and wattles. look for differences then.

I hope you get a lot of pullets!
