HELP!! our chickens eye is running and keeps it closed

Our chickens eye is running and she keeps it closed most of the time, what could be wrong and is there something we can give her or something we can do??? Thanks alot

is it just one eye or both? is there swelling? any other drainage or symptoms? if it is just one eye could it be scratched? mine had a scratch on her eye and i treated with saline flushes and a moisturizing ointment purchased at walmart for about 2.50. treat for 7 days 2 times a day. it took longer for my chicks eye to completely heal but it is all normal now.

If there are NO other symptoms of upper respiratory infection, it could be a scratch. I would use terramycin eye ointment...should be able to get it at the feed store. If not, I would do what jenni said. If there is any discharge from the nostrils, you need to start it on antibiotics asap.
