My baby duck Fred ( 1week old) has got a terrible bruise/cut on his beak it has been getting worse. Is there anything I could do? Yes he eats and drinks but it looks like it's causing uncomforte. He has been in a hamster cage since he was 3 days old.

Maybe he broke his beak some how. Maybe give him softer foods. I'm sorry I don't really know what to say. Maybe mix his food with milk or water to make almost liquidy. Or maybe smush him up a banana.i hope I helped. Nvm. Now that I see the photo. Maybe his beak got chipped.mwell, it probaly did maybe put petroleum or neosporn on it and make sure it doesn't get infected if it even can. I'm sorry I don't know what to say

Do I just but it on per say a cotton swab and gently spread around? do you have any tips on the best ways to make sure it does not get infected? Thank you so much for helping.

Spread it on lightly and change his brooder.Looks like he is pushing his bill through the wires of the hamster cage trying to get out.

I put him into a pet taxi. He does not like the fact that he can't see out of it tho. Hopefully it will heal fast. Thank you for helping me.

Ok. Yes it defitnetly needs to be cleaned often. I'm not sure with what though. Maybe give it some antibiotics. If you can take it to a veterinarian and see if they can give you any special advice and prescript you some special creams for it. But for now Vaseline/petroleum jelly may be good. Also, yes use a cotton swab.i also think that speceider is right. He probalbly is trying to get out

Maybe when it feels a little dry/cracked. I'm not really sure with this question. Just keep it clean somehow

I would apply antibiotic ointment three times a day, just wipe it on.

And I would get him to a vet - there may already be some infection in the tissue.

Is the bill warm to the touch, I mean warmer than normal?
