HELP! PLEASE!!! baby chicks developing curled, limp toes!!

so i just noticed today, but another one of my chicks feet both have curled toes. it's around 2 weeks old. it's weird because it never had it before, and just developed this symptom. the feet and toes and legs don't seem to hurt, but it is really weak and can't walk at all. i also noticed that when i moved them, they were limp. it seems like both of the feets toes were dead.

i tried straightening out its feet but it wont move because it seems to be too weak! HELP!!!

I JUST found another one with 1 foot that has curled toes!!! Is this contagious??? Do my babies have a disease that's spreading? 1 has a feather problem, another has both feet with curled toes, and now, another one is developing curled feet!!! What do I do???? If these 3 die, I will be left with 7 out of 15! Please help!!! I don't know what to do!

I've got a RIR chick 3 days old with the same problem.It walks on the tops of it's feet,but otherwise seems healthy.

Do a search or look at some of the other postings here, I just read somthing not to long ago tonight on this site about splinting chicks feet for the same reason. Hope this helps.

NOT WORKING!!! HELP!!!

I splinted its feet, but its too week to move. I felt so sorry for it, I took them off now. They don't seem to work, should I still keep them on anyway? I will still eat and drink. It's weird cause it developed these curled feet around yesterday or the day before that. But either way, it just very recently developed it.

Have you tried giving it the Poly-Vi-Sol vitamins? I had a chick that had curled toes and I just put some in the feeder for all of them, the chick is fine and it doesn't hurt the others.

Vitamins needed fast, I agree
and possible some added Vitamin E in the form of those oil-based gelcaps.

Take a close look at your starter feed- could it be outdated or spoiled/contaminated? What are you using.



Please tell us they are on shavings or other solid footing. Chicks can get very tired if feet not supported well and they can lost foot support and die.
