HELP PLEASE!Brinsea incubator BROKE on day 21, any chance of survival?

I'm new to incubating and chickens but knew to keep the eggs warm and in humid environment in small bathroom with heat lamp adjusted using thermometer and hot mist humidifier- kept eggs at 101 until I got incubator working again(except the temp sensor was broken, so we had to sit in front of it to turn heat on and off while watching thermometer) until I could get replacement which was a Hova Bator. Eggs were wobbling and we heard lots of peeping yesterday with periods of quiet, but we haven't heard any peeping or seen any rocking this morning. I'm worried that the Brinsea was a better environment, although I couldn't stay up all night adjusting it.

Does anyone know of any situations where the chicks made it through similar circumstances? We're so attached to these eggs and my 10yo daughter is beside herself. Thanks, Jolie

if you have the new bator, and the temp stable, put the eggs in it and keep your fingers crossed. That's the best you can do.

Were these shipped eggs or yours? If local eggs, they may be hardier and can take more.

They're local eggs- Araucanas. Have you heard of chicks surviving this?

I've heard of chicks surviving a lot of horror stories. Even of one getting thrown away and hatching in the garbage bag on a hot day.

I know my power went out for hours and I still had eggs hatch.

Just do the best you can and keep your fingers crossed. Like I said, local eggs are less fragile!

THANK YOU! We got them into the new incubator last night after we got the temp stabilized. I'm going to give them a few days- I never would've thought we could get so attached. I started to panic after reading things here like "lockdown" and "...open the incubator could kill the chicks..."

If they are trying to pip they are usually quiet and you could only hear them pecking to pip if you put the egg to your ear. So, just leave them, they may delay the hatch a bit if the temp dropped because of the broken bator so give them time.

Thank you for that information about pipping- I haven't seen any holes or chips yet but I'll wait and see what happens while chewing off my fingernails.

I've got 50 eggs set ( day 11 today) and we had a big storm and no power for 5 hours last night.. I covered my bator with a quilt til the power came on, and took it off when it came back- and all I can do is hope for the best!
