HELP!!
can I do something to help my baby chick that just hatch 4 days ago.
she can't stretch her right leg. At first I left her with the other chick because I think she will need time to stand up on her own but this morning she still can't do that and the other chick just trample all over her while she can't fight back or get away from them. I feel pity for her so I decided to ask for help.

I found some picture from google image and this forum to put her on chair, so I make it with plastic cup and this is how she looks right now.

When she sits down, does one leg (or both) jut out from under her? If so, she has splayed leg. I know how to fix this, so confirm if it is splayed leg, and then I will help! :)

Start some chick vitamins in her water, or 2-3 drops of PolyVisol baby vitamins (no iron) and make sure that she can reach her food and water at all times. Try her out of the chair often and help her move and bend her legs. You might experiment with different chick chairs to let her touch the floor. Google some to see more pictures of chicken slings and chairs.

Ok! Here is how to fix it.

So one thing you can do is wrap both the legs with medical wrap, and then connect the wrapped legs with more medical wrap.

Or, you can do this:

This is a sponge with holes cut in it, and then medical wrap. Fixed the chick in a day!

Best wishes!

Poultry Pedia is a great website with alot of helpful info. Advice given by eggcessive is what I would recommend; PolyVisol without iron, boiled egg yolk mixed in it's feed, chick chair & physical therapy on that leg. I know it works I had a chick develop Riboflavin deficiency at 3wks, took 2wks & you'd never know he was affected.

There can be several problems with legs, including splay or spraddle leg, slipped tendon, or just weak legs from the position in the egg, a vitamin deficiency, and sometimes from brain damage. It might take some research and trying different things to figure it out. I hope she gets along well.
