help please. hen laid egg now what do i do?

It also depends on the breed of chicken. Some are broody more so than others. Personally, I picked breeds that seldom/rarely go broody because I want them for the eggs. I do have an incubator in case I change my mind & none of them are broody when I decide I want chicks.
What kind of chickens do you have?

Hello,

You seem like a beginner at raising chickens The hen has to be broody, broody means when a hen want's to hatch eggs and get chicks. You can tell when she is broody when she sits on the eggs and puffs up and makes a cluck cluck sound and WILL NOT leave the nest. The egg you have is more likely not going to hatch because you don't have it with a broody hen or you don't an incubator on top of that the weather changes and it'll be too cold for the chick to survive!!

If you plan on getting an incubator and have any questions about it or anything about animals in general I can answer them!!

Hi All,
I didn't see these posts, I don't know where it went to but I had some on line chats and ppl were chuckling saying they would like some of those cold eggs that the maid says are going t hatch. Your comments were really helpful but I exited the site after the mocking ones, so apologies didn't reply. Too hard to find the pictures of her flock of chickens but they are big now. I do have a pic of her second lot. They are about one day old in this shot.
She lays the eggs one by one and then when she knows the time is right, she sits and sits and sits. This time she had only 7. The first time she had 12.
I don't get why some ppl were telling me to eat the eggs and then when she get broody she will sit. There would be nothing to sit of if I eat them.
Vegan anyway.
Chicken to keep pests under control. don't have to poison my dogs with that stuff you soak into their necks and doesn't work anyway. And the chickens are quite amusing, except when they wander in the house. great lawn now.
