Help, so we decided to get chicks, we are renters asked landlords and they are ok w it. So we couldn't get too many, family of 4 and eat a lot of eggs.
Rir, b. Australop, ameraucana and barred Plymouth Rock ... They are five weeks and 75% sexting! and rir is a rooster!
Landlords live on property so don't know where to give him away too or what not.
Called the hatchery and they said you cannot add chicks to a flock, is that true?.?? These three will not provide enough eggs

I think if you can get some chicks around the same age as yours, you shouldn't have too much of a problem - anything smaller is gonna be fair game for the big girls! See if you can find a local hatchery that can give you what you need. Good luck with the rooster

You can add chicks to your flock, but it will not be easy, now that they are 5 weeks old. You can still do it but you will have to introduce them to the existing flock VERY slowly. However, if you are planning on only getting one more chick this may be a problem, raising one chick by itself may be hard on you and the chick.

Also before you buy them make sure you have a separate feeder and watering cans for the chicks once you get them, extras feeders and watering cans come in handy. Good Luck!!!

It depends on how you want them to treat to humans. At the store they are probably not handled much, so if you want them to be friendly, then you will want to buy them younger and handle them everyday. If you have not been handling them much, that is ok, but if you want them to be friendly you may want to handle them every now and then. Getting them older would be good, because you could put them together quicker, but you would still have to separate them for a few days, so they can get used to each other. It doesn't matter that much, just your personal preference.

I handle mine a lot, and I seems not to be able to find any 5ish week old chicks... On this island besides wild ones lol, the next babies I can get wouldn't hatch till may
