Help please I have a hen that can't hold her head up and head keeps twitching to one side

Have birds been tested for coccidiosis, even though not all symptoms suggest this, when you mentioned first chicken became ill after being exposed to chicks in brooder has me wondering,it is also possible for a cocci overload to allow other illnesses to take hold due to compromised health. While this is probably not the problem,a fecal test will rule it out.

I don't think it would be coccidiosis. The chicken that was with the chicks hatched them and had been with them since day 1 Mama and babies had been outside exposed to the dirt since babies were about 5 days old. Everyone's poops look great. Thanks for the suggestion!! All of this has to be from something. I just keep thinking all my wild birds have brought in something. I love them but they drive me crazy!!!

I don't think it is cocci either, but it can be spread by wild birds/other animals and there are approx 11 strains that can affect poultry, just wanted to mention to rule everything out.

Well the chicken with the head issue has an inner ear infection. Vet said bad case of vertigo :-( poor baby! Since she has only been on the antibiotic a couple of days he says I should see improvement in her by the morning. Also new samples to the poultry commission so might have an answer soon.
