About the hypericum...I have tried it on numerous chickens with little to no improvement seen and in the end, they all died anyway.

Not going to give the B2 a chance? If you cull I would send the body in for necropsy so you can have piece of mind knowing what was wrong. Very sad for you and juicy today I hope and pray its not Mareks.

I have never had any luck with it...no matter how early I started, what strength I used, how long I used it...it didn't help. Marek's can spontaneously go into remission and it looks like meds are working..then, Marek's rears its ugly head again and you can see that it was just hiding that meds are doing anything. As I have said, I've lost at this point probably 40 birds...and none have been helped by hypericum.

Oh...well thanks for that tidbit of info. Uh, if anyone made a real, good cure for Mareks they'd probably get rich from all of the people that would want it. Sorry for your hens. I have to say I've been blessed with only one case of Mareks but I have to say, one is too many.

Thanks for the nice words. Apparently, I got lucky enough to have my flock infected with a highly contagious and viral Marek's strain. Even vaccination doesn't help. I've lost 5 out of 9 hatchery vaccinated pullets this spring and another is showing symptoms. Marek's is just too horrible to explain!

Leadwolf have you tried tilling lyme in your ground or sprinkling it everywhere letting it wash in and sprinkling again if it's a large area? It's so terrible that you continue to have to deal with it. There must be some way to get rid of it. I'm sure you tried everything, just a thought.

Well, Im home. My son is begging me not to cull him. Im having a really hard time. I wish I knew someone in the area that could do this for me. Maybe I will do it when my husband gets up, hes a lot stronger than I am, and he has less interest in the birds.

Im beating my head against a wall here. Im terrified of Mareks getting to my whole flock. I havent seen my hens in almost a week because I dont want to carry anything to them. If it is Mareks, I dont know if I can stand never going out to the girls. At the same time, I might as well cull the whole batch because it will eventually kill them anyhow. If its not Mareks then its a waste of life. I sit in my house looking out my window at my sweeties and I cant do anything about it. I sit in here looking at my babies in thier brooders and I cnat help them either. Eventually if it is Mareks, it will wind up outside in the hen house, Im sure. After all, its dander spread, the is no garentee that i can ever stop it from spreading.

And Like leadwolf said, even vaccinated birds are vulnerable.

I just dont know what to do.

I have one last question before I cull...

When they go down on the splits, are they able to get back up again and walk before going down again.

Juicy started doing the splits again today, chirping wildly, before pulling his legs back together and stilt walking around. The left one still seems to go forward.

I'm terrible sorry to hear that, but I think your making the right decission by protecting the others as much as you can. The dandruff is another indication. That's to bad, so sorry, I was hoping for the best. I don't know how you cull but void blood and burn the body, do not bury, if you bury it your just putting the disease into the ground making it more excessable for others to pick up on..

I feel horrible for you... to have to go through this...
