Baby chick just self hatched about 10 minutes ago. I am not sure what is hanging out of the baby's behind....but I am worried. Any words of wisdom? I have never seen this happen before! Baby is very active and chirping. Sorry for the gory pictures...

Mine had unabsorbed yolk, I thought it was intestines (it wasnt), it was very red at first.
Look up how to make a cup-daiper for chicks to absorb the yolk... I can't think of a better way to word it, pretty tired here :p
But basically your chick needs time to absorb, and needs to be kept away from other chicks so that her rear doesn't get pecked at.
If you have any stop bleed, I would dab a little with a qtip if she is still bleeding.

Thank you! This was the first baby to hatch. I will see what I can do for him/her.

Okay, I’m gonna try my best to help you out. Please get a small plastic cup with DRY paper towels in the bottom and place the baby on it and then put it in the incubator. It will absorb in the coming hours.
