Hi all,
I am worried about my Silkie eggs, its day 11 and my air cells are very small. My last hatch failed because of small air cells and i'm afraid it may happen again! I am using a small dome incubator (i know they aren't very reliable) The incubator calls for water channels to be filled to certain levels...can anyone please give me some info on dry incubation?? Can I increase the size of the air cells by removing water until lock down? Would this harm the embryos?

At day 11 I'm pretty sure the air cell isn't that large. However, I would keep an eye out for too high a humidity. I've never dry incubated before, sorry I can't help with that.

Best of luck!

If your air cells are small for 11 days then yes, you can run dry to increase the moisture loss. The main thing with humidity is finding what works for you. You can't go by what a manual says or what someone else uses because there are many factors that affect humidity. I run the low humidity method and run dry if my bator stays above 25% for the first 17 days. I use this method: http://letsraisechickens.weebly.com...anuals-understanding-and-controlling-humidity

Hope you have better hatch!
