I thought my birds had Coccidis after seeing the bloody stools and started treating them with Corid. It's day 6. I've treated my entire flock. Including 7 day old chicks and 7 week old chicks. I know that today I'm supposed to cut back to a half dose of Corid for 3 more days.
After still seeing bloody stools yesterday in my 7 week old chicks I examined the stool carefully and discovered a relatively thick 1/2" long worm inside a small piece of what looked like bloody tissue. I also checked the stool of an older 5 month old chicken and found several small worms approximately 1/8" long. I'm assuming that these are both cecal worms and that my birds picked them up outside from wild birds. I did actually find a round worm after a rain on the ground near a feeder a few days ago so I have to assume they may have both. I think now, that I was probably too hasty in starting the Corid & that it was actually worms the whole time, but since I have gone this far I feel it's prudent to finish it. However, since these are small Bantam chicks and they're obviously in jeopardy from the worms, I believe it's necessary to begin treatment immediately. Can I treat them for worms while continuing the Corid half dose for the next 3 days?
Please advise me! I've been up all night after an already exhausting week with Corid treatment and I'm really very worried. Thank you so much for your help!
