This was mixed in with my Ducks poo this evening.. Any idea as to what this is? I poked open a small hole before flushing and it was filled with a very thick mucus like substance.. creamish look.. The outter film on this felt like a ' soft ' shelled egg.

My female duck had eariler today eaten her shell to a soft shell that was tossed. She had gotten ahold of it and ate it.

My Ducks are 6 months old Pekins. One male one female. Not sure which this came from.. any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated..

Sometimes females will pass something like this if they are having issues laying. It's essentially part of an egg she was working on inside that didn't develop properly. They usually look like pieces of fried egg white (and yours is the typical shape I have seen, with the little "tail" hanging off). Since you said she'd laid (and then eaten) a soft-shelled egg today, that would make sense she passed this. Is she on layer pellets, or getting extra calcium added to her food? That would help her out alot with this problem. It's nothing dangerous, but she does need that extra calcium to help her get her system back to normal.

Hello and Thank you so much for your reply. Yes she is on layer feed and get extra calcium and protiens also daily :)

I was worried sick.. I feel great relief now. Thanks for your reply.

Romy occasionally passes something like this . . . I need to give her extra calcium from time to time. It mostly happens just as she is starting to lay, or when she has been laying a while and starts to slow down.
