Hello, I would love to keep every chick that hatches but unfortunately last year my first hatch I kept all my boys and therefore this time around I need to be more sensible. This spring my broody chickens Myrtle and Karen had there first clutch hatched by themselves. Myrtle had lots of difficulties and lost a few eggs to begin with aswell as lost 2 hatched chicks at 24 hrs old. Which is why I've been struggling to come to terms with the fact she gave me all boys when last year I did no better sex rate incubating. Karen has 7 chicks which are 2 weeks old and I'm almost 100% on one being a boy. If I do not rehome before they grow much prettier I may be forced to replace my ginger boys that hatched last year... who am I fooling they family now
Hello, your chicks are pretty...will you be keeping them?
Thank you for your welcoming response I think I just needed to see it written down to finally belive that i have a second batch of boysHello and welcome to BYC!
Awww....super adorable! I see a lot of comb action there, the first 2 look like males and probably the 3rd on as well. You might start a thread in our What Breed and Gender forums for help... https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/what-breed-or-gender-is-this.15/
Enjoy your babies!
