I have 6 14 week old chickens and 3 1 1/2 year old chickens and none of them allow me near them even if I have their favorite treats and I want to be able to pick them up so I can show them in my county fair. SOME ONE HELP PLEASE!#

You have to catch them and handle them gently every day, scratch them, make them feel secure, they will probably run, Chase them slowly into a corner and grab them and hold them until they calm down, talk to them, they should almost fall asleep, they won't like it initially but they should slowly to start to like it over time, patience and gentle handling.

Get a chair and sit quietly in the run with the feed pan a little ways away. Just sit quietly, the next day move the chair a little close to the pan, and again, do not grab, just sit quietly. By the third day, again move more closely to the feed, but only put a little out, feed that when it is gone, call quietly, "Here chick, chick.." shake the can and then gently pour out just a little more. Repeat.

Within a week, they will calm down considerably. Many birds are very uncomfortable being handled, but most will calm down with a feed.

If you ever just have to get a hold of a bird, use a fish net, with a handle, the kind for scooping a fish into a boat. It works very well at nearly dark, but you can catch something pretty successfully with a net. Then put them into the cage, and take the cage to the show.
