When is the best time to sneak extra eggs onto a broody hens nest? When she jumps off to eat/poop? Thanks

Is she already incubating eggs? If so what day for those first eggs?

If she is already well into incubation adding extra eggs may not be a good idea. Adding extra eggs would cause a staggered hatch and when the first set of eggs hatch she may abandon the later added eggs to care for her hatched chicks. They would become her priority, not the eggs that are later in development.

That makes sense, day 3 (we think) this is our first time so pretty nervous about the whole thing. She only has 2 eggs as I took one out to see if they were actually fertilised.... By my investigating they are... But again I'm a total newbie.
