My friend has my chickens currently at her house and brought me eggs this morning. SOme chicken some duck. I scrambled some up with some milk this morning and this is what happened... what is the deal? Is this safe to eat??? I left them on the counter to post this and my 2yos ate them!!!

It's probably some lining from the oviduct and whilst a bit gross that your little one ate it, there's no reason it would do any harm xx

No need to panic. If it's just a glitch in the laying system, it's not going to hurt anyone. I believe if the chickens aren't eating poison, and haven't been treated recently with any medications (and neither of these things would cause an egg to look funky like that), they are safe to eat.

Duck eggs may look different than chicken eggs,(thicker and prolly cook thicker) some people like them some don't.

It looks like the duck eggs in the whites, do you have any freezing in your area? It kinda looks like maybe the eggs were frozen awhile...

I'm wondering if it isn't a big 'meat spot'? Meat spot or blood spot, I agree. Either way, while gross, well cooked, it's all protein. I make cakes using eggs with blood spots in them. No biggy.

That looks like under cooked duck egg whites to me. I eat duck eggs every day though they are almost always fried. They do appear more clear/firm when under cooked and really white when cooked through. I admit, I love duck eggs, but that looks super nasty.
