Yes, sorry. Aussie slang. Chookes = chickens,specifically hens, from British dialect.Maybe I am slow but what are chooks? I am guessing chickens ?

lol Yes. My girls love my garden but it does not love them!Chickens will make a disaster of your yard--big holes that you will step in and break your ankle, they will tear up anything and everything even if they aren't going to eat it: flowers, grass, landscaping. I had a hen dig up mulch to the garden cloth underneath and she put holes in the garden cloth getting to the dirt underneath! Ducks don't scratch, they will pick bugs off of your garden plants and keep pests away. They might trample little plants, however.

My neighbour has ducks, a drake & his mate. I know nothing about ducks so here's my questions:
Does anyone know what breed they are & general breed characteristics? At present they are penned but their property isn't fenced so are they likely to roam if let out & are they destructive to gardens & lawns? Thanks for any input.
