yes he broke the egg shell but he stopped peeping so I looked at him with a flashlight and he had not broken the white membrane so I made a small hole in the membrane so he could breathe. That’s why it’s odd shaped.

How long ago did he pip, do you know?
He should be okay for now, sometimes they do go quiet, he'll likely be resting before finishing his hatch

Okay, that sounds fine, they can take up to 24 hours, after the pip before hatching. 5 hours is very early on so no need to worry yet. He should be okay for now, fingers crossed he hatches out soon
