Okay so I have a flock of 18 hens all who I care for, I went out to feed them today 12/2/25 at 5:30 pm to notice one of the hens who is around 6 months old, is bleeding at the comb, her face is a little carved into but not major, i suspected the others were bullying her and i cannot seperate them, what do I do?

She isn’t low on the pecking order, they have decent space, there are a few hiding places and I can post pictures tomorrow as it’s night here they have quite a few nesting boxes and a few corners to hide in, their always mean to each other but no one’s been pecked to bled before.. will she die..?

She will not die unless they cannibalize her. Do you have any blue food coloring you can put on her comb and wounds so the other chickens don't peck at the blood? Clean her up the best you can. What color is she?

You probably have too many chickens for the space. Chickens with temperament need lots of space. Can you free range them at least a few hours, daily.

If you really have no possibilities to separate, sell her + one more hen to someone who has lots of room and very few chickens. Or sell 2 bullies.
Change in flock dynamics and more space can make a difference.

What's the measurements of the space they have? Coop and run. Are they all 6 months old? Depending how sever the cuts are infection will be your main concern. Also you need to clean the blood off her. Chickens will peck at red. Usually to comb bleeds they can bleed a good amount I'll put corn starch on it to stop the bleeding. You also mentioned cuts on her face they will need cleaned and treated with Vetericyn or neosporin. Is the area predator proof? Also is there anything she could have possibly got herself caught in and cut herself?

I was thinking this as well. Combs bleed excessively and can look like the bird is terribly injured when they’re not. I have a hen that stuck her head through the chicken wire and ripped her comb half off on the way back in. She was fine.
