Help Please!!

I think people need to pass some sort of test before they are allowed to get ANY animal. Actually, perhaps before some are allowed to have kids wouldbe a good idea as well. Uh oh! I said that out loud, didn't I? FASCIST! No, im not, just kidding.

I've read that you can help an impacted crop by massaging it. Might be worth a try. Please keep us posted

They are doing much better! Crops seem more normal now....and they butts are healing and feathers starting to grow back. We are now starting to think that they could be cornishes now! Anyway, things are looking up for these 2!! YAY!

Are you familiar with raising Cornish hens? If not, don't get too attached. They will quickly grow too large for their legs to hold and eventually they die if you let them live too long. They aren't meant to live years as egg laying hens. Might want to post pics in the 'what breed is this?' category and see if they can ID them for you. If you want to keep it as a pet (though it wont have a long life span) limit its diet and give it plenty of exercise.

Oh its fine! We have plenty of "pets!" These were gonna be food anyway!

But thanks for the info!

Cornish cross are usually butchered around 6 to 8 weeks and their food is limited. Part of why they got pecked, I suspect, is they are easy targets as they tend to lie around. If you wait too long they can die of heart failure or leg fractures quite readily. Lots of info on the meat birds forum.
