i walked out into me coop tonight to find one of my favorite french black copper maran roosters,DEAD. all 14 chickens were on the roost except him he was in the out side area of the coop. there were no feathers pulled or cuts or anything. i had checked on them about 2 hours before i found him dead and they all seemed fine, and within that 2 hours he was covered in ants!
the coop is fully enclosed and11 of the chicks are 14 weeks old and 4 of them are about 8 months old that includes 1 silkie rooster. but if he would have injured him to DEATH wouldnt there be proof ??
im in southern california and it has been a little warm but today was only about 85 and this happened at sun down when it was cool out
