Help!!! Please!!!

I think this is botulism from the worms? Can I cure this with anything??

I don't think it's spraddle legs. I looked at pics on line and the treatment. It's big that the legs fall open, it's that they are just dangly dead like...

I'm no expert, only been at this chicken thing for a year but am curious as to what's going on with yours.

Questions: Did they get fluffed up when they became lethargic? What does their stool look like, is it runny?

Thinking it could be one of several things - Cocci or a vitamin deficiency. There's always the possibility of botulism but did all the chicks eat the worms? You said your son fed them a worm or two but - with so many getting sick - I'm wondering if that's the cause.

Please post photos and detailed description (like you have done here) on the "Emergencies, diseases, injuries, cures," thread To get attention you might head it as CHICKS DYING NEED HELP STAT!!
Your family and chicks have suffered enough. The "fish smell," part makes me wonder if any fish emulsion, or fish meal was applied as a soil amendant or if your tropical storm flooding brought
residue from dead or dying fish and that permeated your soil.

Have you researched the signs and treatment for botulism? I will do this myself after I finish here. Is it possible for you to take one of the bad ones to the vet for a necropsy, which may prevent moe deaths as days go by.

Chicks do need grit if they are eating bugs, worms etc. The swollen area you mentioned is called a "crop." Force feeding any species can injure/choke them if too much is fed or it doesn't 'go down' properly. I have had that happen when I used to tube feed new born puppies. You have to feed small amounts very, slowly. If the chick stresses or fight back - stop!

Thank you for your thoughts / suggestions! I will copy and paste this horrible issue in the disease section!

Also, my boys fed the chicks anywhere from 10-20 worms (23 chicks total and I was trying to make sure everyone got a piece (the chicks would grab an end from another and rip it in half) but as the extra worms sat overnight in the bucket, the next morning I noticed a putrid rotting fishy smell! My son had already fed at lest one of the worms from the bucket by then.

I don't know what vitamin could cause sudden paralysis ? Especially since I add a vitamin, mineral electrolyte to their water :(
