Help please!

Do you think the big scabs could be from being pecked at? Maybe there was another rooster at wherever he came from, that was mean to him!
I have not touched the red bump, but have but some bag balm on the scab areas. Is there something else I should be doing for him? I have been giving him water with vitamins and electrolytes in it. Keeping his area very clean and making sure he always has clean bowls with fresh food and water.

It's hard to be sure about the scabs. He could have been attacked by another animal. If they are healed over and don't appear infected, then I would leave them be and just keep an eye on him. Is he alert and eating and drinking well? If so, then I would just make sure he has a good flockraiser feed and plenty of clean water. He should be fine. You may also want to run a search on dusting and deworming if you don't know his history. He may have worms or other parasites.

He is eating and drinking. Acting normal as far as I can tell.
Would I be able to see the worms or parasites on him?

Don't pull on the red lump. I believe it is his oil gland that he uses to waterproof his feathers. All chickens have it but you normally wouldn't see it because his feathers cover it. He may be moulting and that is why his is missing feathers.

That had not occured to me! I have never seen an oil gland before, but I knew they have them. It might be infected? I don't know, but thanks for posting that, Angel.

It know has a black thing coming out of the top. Could this be a new feather coming in?

The white part looks smaller. It is dry maybe a bit on the softer side.
I'm thinking the black is a new feather coming in?
I just took this picture.
