I've seen a lot of people use a pair of good, heavy shears to cut off the head -- it's very fast, and puts them out of it immediately.

If they are the chick's organs, shouldn't we be able to see intestines?

I put it down. It was organs. Wasn’t a great picture. It was really trying to be with the other 2 that hatched yesterday with it. But wouldn’t have made it out of the incubator.

Yikes! I think you did the right thing. There’s a slight chance I suppose it could have been something weird, but the chance it would have been suffering was too great.
