My lady is sitting with her tail down, walking kind of like a penguin. Some times she starts panting and can not stand up. She is still eating and I soaked her in warm water with Epsom salt. What could this be? Is it egg binding or something else?? Her belly behind her legs is warm and swollen, it is not hard but not squishy. I do not want to push on it too hard. Please help me, she is one of my babies!

How long has she been experiencing symptoms that you know of?

Would it be possible for you to lube up a gloved finger with Vaseline and gently insert it into her cloaca to feel for an egg?

I would take her food away and only give her water, as well as oyster shells or some other source of calcium.

Here are a couple articles about egg binding treatments. These include the procedure for inserting your finger:

If you do not feel an egg when you insert your finger, and if this has been going on for longer than 48 hours, then you may want to look at ascites, or "water belly". It could be something else but this is what comes to my mind. Here are a couple articles about that:

Unfortunately I had to put my sweet girl to sleep yesterday afternoon. There were cystic fibers that looked to be on her ovary but the doc was not 100% sure of the location since it took up so much of her abdomen and odds were not good she would make it through the required surgery with the pressure it was putting on her lungs, especially since she would be lying on her back for the procedure.

I'm so sorry to hear that ❤️

Really a hard decision to make. I know you did the best you could and I laud you for taking her to the vet. Even if she didn't come home.
