HELP! Possible mites?

Just got home... Bad news. She passed away while I was at school. The other three are fine. I will be getting another chick soon. Thanks you all for your help.

So sorry to hear that. Sounds like something just wasn't right with her.

You might pick up some electrolytes and probiotics and add them to the water for all of the chicks, especially the new one.

Make sure you get the chick as soon as possible, so it isn't a lot smaller than the others (risk of getting picked on). Or get two new ones, so there are two the same size. (chicken math

Thank you for your sympathy, I was very attached to Amethyst. She never really did very much, even though she was very sweet. Sometimes they just don't make it. I don't think that she would have been a very healthy chicken had she survived. She will be missed.
I'd love to get two, unfortunately my parents insisted four was the limit. The new chick will be here this weekend, and she will be a few days old, very close in age to the others.

Sometimes chicks just get sick... The best you can do is seperate them and keep them warm with water and food. Just like in nature not all live. I'm so sorry. I know how horrible that feels. I have only lost one... Same thing woke up one morning and she was lethargic. The rest survived and are big and healthy egg laying hens. When I lost the chick, my son was so heart broken that I went to buy one to replace her and came home with four more!!!! Chicken math. So now I have 9. One is a roo.

I was reading that mites do not cause death to the birds but my faverelle died today and she had some not covered but she was also skinny. When I went out to the run today she was gasping kinda like she was choking then her head flopped over and she died :-( she was my baby girl

Yes, I'm thinking that it wasn't mites but rather just an unhealthy chick... Like I said, she was never as active as the others. Luckily, I just got another Amethyst today, she's a golden laced Wyandotte.
