............I have one poult out of two that hatched

My first one would not eat either, was hatched by a broody chicken with chicks. On the third day, I finally offered it some egg yolk from a hard boiled egg. It seemed to do the trick and is now thriving.

My second one, I did not even get a chance to feed, it passed less than 12 hours after hatching.

Sorry it didn't work out. Denninmi's observation that constant/incessant peeping usually indicates something in the environment causing distress might be of use in reviewing setup. What variety were the turks and where were they obtained (hatched by you/day olds/etc. - might have already been doomed on arrival).

sorry to hear your poults didnt make it, but don't let that discourage you, it could have been something wrong with them before you even got them.

2 things i've found that help with stubborn(or very dumb poults, they are not all created equal after all!) is this. sugar or vitamines mixed in their water, and peeping at them. sounds dumb i know, but grab a pinch of food and if they are not already interested, play with it, and call out a wheep, wheep noise. i do this type of feeding with all my poults early on, keeps them interested and gets the weak ones going.

here's a you tube video of mine going crazy for food that i picked up from the floor, nothing special, but as soon as you pick it up, it must be gourmet!

I lost 5 poults on my first try hatching and brooding, but the following hatches have been much better, it seams to make quite the difference if you can afford them some attention the first week in particular.

Give it a try again! turkeys are great to have around!

They will die everytime if you don't put baby chicks in with them. I lost a group of easterns a few weeks ago. Now I have 3 more doing well with 3 chicks. Turkeys are too stupid to figure out the whole drink/eat thing.
