I am attempting to hatch some chicken eggs for my preschool class. i have a LG 9200 incubator with a turner. I do not have any instructions for the incubator. I think i have managed to get my temp regulated (without eggs). I am unclear what the desired humidity should be and how do I regulate that. In all the posts I have seen where you can add a wet sponge, bowl of water, fill the reserviors? Also, when I put my little cup of water in the middle my turner can move? Is the turner necessary? Also, my boss does not want to keep the heat on "high" in my classroom when we are not in session? How much will the lower temp in my building affect the internal temp of my incubator! Help! need to get my eggs in place by Monday so they hatch before spring break! Thanks.

Great questions.

Don't worry about the room temp - the incubator will turn off & on based on the temp inside the bator not outside.

You need humidity low for the first 18 days but very high for the hatch (of the chicks get stuck in the eggs.

The turner is necessary or you will need to turn them all by hand 3x per day every day for the first 18 days. The yolk will get stuck to the shell if its not turned & that usually kills the chick either during development or during hatch.

I have not used the LG9200 - but the basics are the same - add water from day 18 on - but do so (or try ) with out opening the incubator. Dont open it at all if an egg has pipped. The sudden drop in humidity is bad for them.

There should be some sort of water mechanism in there - either channels in the bottom of the bator or something like that. Just fill 1 partially at the begenning & fill them all fully on day 18. Then keep them full through the end.

That should be good enough!
