Hi, I have a production red pullet who just laid her first egg yesterday. Today I went video taping her laying. After she laid she played with the egg with her mouth.
She wouldn't come out of the coop and when I tried to get close to her/egg, try to pet her or offer food, she made this really loud and scary noise.
I am baffled...

I had an Ameraucana that would do that now and then if I went to collect too soon after she'd laid. She never went broody, though. I would guess your production girl is the same way.

hi you are right. She came out of the coop 30min after sitting on it. She did played with it with her mouth and the sound she makes when people walk near her sounded exactly like broody hen.
