Help! Pullet Tries To Lay First Egg...But Membrane Is Surrounding It?!

Day two on the antibiotics. I gave her her food back last night and then took it away again this morning. Trying to keep her from laying another egg right now. She's still spunky, cruising around and being chatty. I'm going to keep her isolated for the duration of her being on antibiotics though. I know though that infection could set in very quickly so still keeping my fingers crossed...

You would want to keep her in the dark for 16 hours a day if you want her to stop laying eggs. You can reduce the amount of food intake too if you wish. Food is not what causes them to lay - it's hormones and light.

Just a quick update on my little hen. To my happy surprise, she seems fine. I had her on antibiotics for a week and then let her back with the flock. Yesterday she layed another tiny egg (the first since she prolapsed) and everything went fine. So far so good...
Love me a happy ending !

Sounds like she's doing good! Thank you for the update :)
